U.S. TV comedian David Letterman offered New Zealand actress Anna Paquin $10,000 if she hit a basketball shot. Swish, she did it. A 1994 Oscar winner, now in Jane Eyre, Paquin, 13, knows when grownups are joking, however. "I thought, no way I keep this.'' She indeed had to return it, but New York City papers made a fuss, prodding Dave to pay up. The money will go to a charity for kids with life-threatening illnesses. She really makes a basket count.
