Paquin Joins Cast of HurlyBurly
Chris Petrikin HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Oscar-winner Anna Paquin has joined the cast of
Hurlyburly, in which she will play her first young adult role.
She joins Sean Penn, Robin Wright Penn, Kevin Spacey, Chazz
Palminteri, Meg Ryan and Garry Shandling in the feature adaptation of
David Rabe's play.
The picture is about three desperate Hollywood wannabes in modern-day
Malibu, struggling to define themselves in relation to the women they
love, their careers and each other. The 15-year-old New Zealander will
play Donna, a drifter and aspiring actress who becomes involved with
the trio.
Anthony Drazan directs from a screenplay by Rabe. The independent
feature is being fully financed by Storm Entertainment and is slated
to begin production Dec. 8.
Paquin -- who received an Oscar for her feature debut in Jane
Campion's The Piano -- recently wrapped actor Tony Goldwyn's
directorial debut, The Blouse Man, co-starring Diane Lane and Viggo
Mortensen. Her other credits include Franco Zeffirelli's adaptation of
Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre and Carroll Ballard's contemporary
picture, Fly Away Home. Paquin also has a cameo role in Steven
Spielberg's upcoming slave drama Amistad.
