88번은 알파벳의 8번째 철자가 H이고 HH라 Heil Hilter의 줄인 말로 통용되기도 합니다. <홈랜드>1시즌의 캐리가 극우 성향의 젊은이를 HH 셔츠를 보고 알아 차리죠.

Players in Italy will no longer be able to wear the No 88 shirt as part of new measures in the country to clamp down on antisemitism in football.

The number 88 has long been associated with neo-Nazis and has been used a means of saying ‘heil Hitler’ as h is the eighth letter of the alphabet.

The decision was confirmed on Tuesday by FIGC (Italian FA) president Gabriele Gravina, minister of the interior Matteo Piantedosi, minister for sport and youth Andrea Abodi and national coordinator for the fight against antisemitism Giuseppe Pecoraro.

The officials signed a declaration of intent for the fight against antisemitism which included several actions to combat racism.

As well as a ban on the No 88 shirt being assigned, matches must be stopped if antisemitic chanting is occurring in the stands and clubs must include an explicit reference to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism in their codes of ethics.

In March, Lazio handed three fans lifetime bans from the Stadio Olimpico for instances of discriminatory and antisemitic behaviour during a Serie A derby against Roma. This included one supporter who wore a No 88 shirt with “HITLERSON” written above.
